In honor of National Police Week, defenders from the 97th Security Forces Squadron hosted and participated in events from May 11 through May 15, 2020 to salute fallen law enforcement officers. On May 13, the 97th SFS hosted a Ruck Run around the base track. Throughout the day, 97th SFS defenders ran the same number of laps as law enforcement officers who passed away while on duty during 2019. During each lap, the name and description of a fallen officer was read in recognition of their service towards protecting the country. On May 15, the 97th SFS also hosted a reveille and retreat memorial ceremony at the base flagpole. During this ceremony defenders raised and saluted the flag during reveille which marks the start of the duty day, followed by retreat at the end, in honor of both civilian and military law enforcement officers who have passed away.
