  • Special Tactics Training Squadron dedicates building to selfless hero

    Those who have walked the grounds of Hurlburt Field know that the entire base is engulfed with Air Force history. The street names, buildings, airpark, and training complexes all tell a story and keep memories alive of perhaps a father, husband, son, daughter, or in many cases – a hero. Today, U.S. Air Force Lt. Col William “Bill” Schroeder’s name was bound forever to Special Tactics and Hurlburt Field history when the Special Tactics Training Squadron annex building, which formerly housed the 10th Combat Weather Squadron, was dedicated in his namesake.
  • Memorial for final WWII Doolittle Raider to be held April 18

    A memorial service to celebrate the life of retired U.S. Air Force Lt. Col. Richard “Dick” E. Cole will be held at JBSA-Randolph, Texas, Thursday, April 18, 2019, beginning at 3 p.m. in Hangar 41. Cole, who was the final surviving member of the famed Doolittle Tokyo Raiders of World War II, passed away in San Antonio April 9 at the age of 103.
  • CAFB honors Memorial Day, pays tribute to late pilot from Class 09-10

    Members of the 14th Flying Training Wing along with family and friends of Maj. Andrew Becker gathered in the Kaye Auditorium here during a Memorial Day Ceremony and paid tribute to Becker during a special memorial service May 24. Becker, along with two other Airmen, were killed when their U-28A crashed in March 2017 during a training sortie near Clovis, New Mexico.
  • The Great Escape: setting the record straight

    A memorial ceremony took place to commemorate the “Great Escape” of World War II near Ramstein AB, Germany on July 1, 2017. The memorial honored Royal Air Force Squadron Leader Roger Bushell and French Air Force 2nd Lt. Bernard Scheidhauer, the two escapees executed near Ramstein in March 1944.
